My kids didn't have school on Friday AND on Monday. So that caused a pretty long weekend in our house. Friday, Saturday and Sunday were awesome. We had a great time (my Birthday remember). But then Monday came and holy crap, seriously I almost put all my kids to bed the second it got dark... 5:15pm. Demons, who have to cry a lot, entered my children's bodies.
I couldn't convince my 8 year old that it was bedtime so instead we popped some popcorn and watched the Sword in the Stone. Random I know but somehow Disney movies magically turn everything into happiness. And then they were still in bed around 8.
He had to get his eyes dilated. And wow, his pupils were HUGE.
They gave him these pretty sweet glasses to wear outside for the day.
He thought they were awesome. Oh good.
I am a chicken when it comes to running outside by myself before the sun comes up. I use to do it all the time. Until the time one of my running besties and I were followed by a couple of idiot men in a car in the wee hours of the morning. That story for another time. But it was scary, so now I am a chicken and I stay in the safety of my own home (although even being in my home has crazy stories too).
My Omaha running buddies Allie, Me and Brynne(friend who endured above creepy experience with me)
Thanks Allie I kindof borrowed your picture.
(and just so you know, Allie makes...yes, she MAKES them...THE BEST recipe books
with THE BEST recipes in it. Go check it out!)
But enough of my daily randomness. I was reading February's issue of Self magazine and came across some interesting tips.
I totally agree. Winter season has it in for us! All these triggers that can cause weight gain, depression, stress, sicknesses (don't even get me started on sicknesses. Anyone else feel that everyone and their dog is sick around you?) These triggers are all around us. Colds? Yep! Stress? Um Yeah. Excited to leave the house on a cold day? Not me.
But I do love the advice they gave to help us keep goals in staying healthy and fit. I feel better when I have a nice long talk with a friend. I definitely love a good run in the crisp air. The getting-out-the-door is the hard part for me.
Fabulous tips and things to be aware of and think about.
And if you are still struggling with winter, try out this "moment for yourself"
I am going to start planning my summer vacation to a beach right now!
Anyone else having a hard time beating the winter weight busters? What are you tips or tricks?
Who runs in the dark? Do you carry anything with you for protection?
I am totally serious about this. I need to face my fear.
Favorite Disney movie of all time?
Greg's going to let me run at night this summer because I am a terrible early riser. I am going to buy a headlamp and only run on our busy road!
ReplyDeleteI'll be running with my dog--no one will mess with us!
