Here We Go. (Take 2)

(...and 14 days)

I am going to pretend that I kept blogging through the holidays.
(And while I am pretending what I did during the holidays, lets just pretend that I drank green smoothies every morning, stayed away from any and all sugar (especially sugar cookies), made my kids do their school work over the  break, stayed under budget for my Christmas shopping, ran at least 10 miles everyday, and I lost 5 pounds. You guys did all that too?? Yay!!)

Ummm...yeah not so much.

But, here's to a new year. And New GOALS.
(I find myself more committed when I call them goals and not resolutions. Tomato..Tomato.)

#1. New half-marathon PR.
Shooting for under 1:45. Now I just need to find a race.

(Last year's goal accomplished! St. George Marathon...check!)

#2. Run  (#) of miles each month.
For the month of January, I want to run 70 miles total.
I need to keep it simple and realistic. Sure I would love to run 25+ miles a week, but right now, not going to happen.  So I am going to shoot for more realistic goal, 17miles/week.
I totally fell off the "loving-running bandwagon" in November and December. It was a nice 2 month break.
But here's to starting up again. My kids will thank me and I think my skinny jeans will thank me too.
Running = nicer mom.

and I will be logging major miles on my TM for awhile. Seeing as it is 3 degrees but feels like -8.  I barely work up the courage to drive anywhere in this temperature let alone run in it.

(I was too exhausted to even hold my phone still for a non blurry picture. Don't judge.)

 #3. Blog on SIMPLE fitness.
Let's try this blogging thing again shall we.
I miss talking fitness and all it's goodness so I am back at it.
Hopefully for longer than just 5 measly posts.
Here's the plan.
-1 workout post per week
-1 healthy recipe/nutrition post per week
-1 tip/random thoughts from me per week

Killer ab workout later this week. Promise.

#4. Read two books a month.
Is this a random goal or what?
1 fun book for entertainment (can't-put-it-down type of book)
and 1 educational book (can't stay awake while reading it type of book)
I read for fun all the time. But I need want to start reading to make me smarter, and not just think about vampires or how to kill 23 people in the Capital setting with a bow and arrow.

Now I need my educational book for the month.

I have a few more personal goals but I figure that somethings are better left unsaid to the public...

Here's to a new year (14 days late).

What are your new year's resolutions? Do you even set resolutions? How are doing so far?
Kyle doesn't believe in setting resolutions. He thinks it is lame. He is already perfect in everything I guess.

What was your workout today? Any races scheduled? Who wants to run a half marathon with me this summer/fall?

All you book readers out there...Recommendations please?!
Fun books and books that will teach me something too.

  1. I was wondering when you were going to blog again! Glad to see all the updates. Excited for your half marathon whenever you run it! You will totally hit your goal. I am aiming to do one this fall is this baby was as easy/good as Lydia was. We will see! My friend did the Snow Canyon half in November and loved it. I am thinking that one or their is a So Jo half marathon the end of October. I need to read that Reached book! You have reminded me to go get the second one in the series from my neighbor today. Keep going with the updates!

    P.S. Kyle is lame. ;)

    1. I just checked out a money management book for this month but I just put Anatomy of Peace on my library list. Have you read the first book Leadership and Self Deception? Should I start with that one? And I wish we lived closer period. (for swapping books and to daily listening to your rendition of In the summer of '69)
