Here We Go.

I Love Fitness and Health. Plan and Simple.
But I didn't always know that I love it.

Growing up I was always active. Playing soccer, weight lifting, running, snowboarding, eating my fruits and vegetables...but I did it more just for myself.  Even in college, majoring in Dietetics (nutrition), I had no idea what I was going to do with my degree, but I knew I hated working in the hospital setting (which is what most dieticians end up doing...or so I thought). So I really had no direction as to what "I wanted to be when I grew up."

It wasn't until after I graduated and I applied to be a personal trainer at the new "Gold's Gym" that was coming to Pocatello that I finally realized that I love all things fitness and nutrition. And more than that, I LOVE helping someone reach their goals, become stronger, become healthier, push their body to a level they never thought they could reach.  (I think that is why I am obsessed with the Biggest Looser. Besides the reality drama and the entertaining, emotionally bi-polar contestants, I love watching the trainers connect with each contestant and how they help each one change their lives. And... I am SO GLAD Jillian is back. About TIME!!) Anyways, I had the privilege of working with some amazing individuals at Gold's Gym.  Some of them lost a lot of weight. Some of them needed simple exercises to recover from injuries. Some of them toned and tightened their already fit bodies. And some just needed a stress release and someone to talk to. But with each one of my clients, I always saw what exercising and healthy eating did for an individual. There was a change for the better in all of them.

Life started for my husband and I.  Kids came. Graduate school and new jobs took us to different states.  We found ourselves in Omaha, Nebraska for 3 years. I was fortunate to have an opportunity to personal train some of the ladies that lived in our complex, which then led me to also teach group fitness classes!  The ladies I trained, and the ones who came to my classes, became some of my very closest friends.  Even though we didn't have a proper gym or any high tech equipment, we met in a clubhouse with our own simple dumbbells and resistant bands (and can't forget the huge exercise stability balls we all had to bring to class) and got our sweat on!  I was able to train women through their pregnancies, help them loose weight, and help them know what their bodies needed nutritionally.  (I even had one husband come to a class and he almost threw up half way through.)  These ladies were STRONG and FIT! I loved being apart of their success. I truly do miss my Omaha "clients".

Again life has ran it's course and we are now in Parker, Colorado (just outside of Denver).  We love it! The people are wonderful, kind, and so ACTIVE. I have never seen so many people riding their bikes, running with baby strollers, running with groups, running with their dogs, even riding their bikes with their dogs in a trailer (true story)! Makes me happy! Sure does motivate me to stay active too.

I am starting this blog mainly to share some fitness tips, tricks, workouts, healthy snacks, recipes, pretty much anything related to a healthy lifestyle, it is all free game on here.  But I am interested in what you want to know.

So...

Oh...P.S. I noticed your word verification is on, which makes it hard for people to leave comments.

Here's the instructions if you want to take it off.

  4. Love this blog! I finally got a trainer again...I had missed you too much this last 3.5 years! I agree with Angie, I think the hardest weight to loose is those last 10 lbs...for sure lots about that would be great. And looking into your life to see what you do(nutritionally and physically) every day to be fit. Maybe how to eat and exercise when pregnant(not that I am but I would have like to know that stuff back in the day:). And the post-baby stuff is super important too...possibly one of the most depressing parts of having a baby. And maintenace after you have lost those last 10 lbs. Wow! can you tell I have way too many opinions/questions on health? But you already knew that abt me...:)
